Many government officials and notable figures gathered along the Han River bank and at the foot of Wudang Mountain to engage in extensive discussions and cooperation and to create a shared blueprint for the future together.
The settlement of such a high-standard, high-level, and high-quality parts industry event is largely thanks to the strong foundation of the automotive industry in Shiyan.
Hyped as the "Capital of China's Commercial Vehicles", Shiyan was built and prospered due to its strong automotive industry. The city is a major production hub for commercial vehicles in China, with 3067 automotive parts enterprises, accounting for 43.7% of the total in the province. These enterprises can produce over 1000 types of total components and more than 4000 types of parts, making the city a strong industrialization base with a complete supply chain and cluster advantages in the automotive parts industry.
In response to the restructuring of the automotive industry towards accelerating electrification, intelligence, low carbon, and digitalization, Shiyan focuses on new energy and intelligently connected vehicles. The city is working on building the supply chains, reconstructing the industrial chains, and enhancing the value chain, aiming to promote the intelligent transformation and upgrading of automotive parts. This effort is expected to create an automotive parts industry cluster worth a hundred billion yuan.
Since its establishment in 2008, the automotive parts expo has successfully held 13 sessions by 2023, with over 300 projects signed and a total contract amount exceeding 120 billion yuan.
Shi Yonghong, Vice Chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, mentioned that the expo has evolved from initially focusing on Shiyan automotive parts products sales to becoming an important channel and platform for sharing information, exchanging technical information, and attracting investment across the entire automotive industry chain. After years of careful nurturing by Shiyan, the expo has become a professional event by gaining significant influence in the national automotive parts industry.
"In this expo, domestic new energy vehicles and leading battery enterprises actively participated. The expo has greatly improved in scale and quality, and now reaching a world-class level," commented Jiang Yaoping, former Vice Minister of Commerce, after touring the exhibition with delight.
As an important national automotive industry base, Shiyan bears the significant task of promoting the low-carbon transformation of the automotive industry and the green development of the region.
